Credentials & Therapy Style
As a relational, attachment-focused therapist, I believe we are most at peace when we are working toward it with others and are finding meaning and purpose in the present, rather than living in the past or fearing the future. I offer a healing, calm environment for growth and change and welcome clients from all backgrounds, belief systems, and cultures.

Affiliate faculty member positions for counseling and marriage/family therapy: Regis University (2013-present) and Adams State University (2016-present)

Presentations and writing: I have presented to clinicians, physicians, and community members on topics such as ADHD, depression and anxiety in children and teens, trauma, and family issues. I have written for the Colorado Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and women's magazines, and I have been a guest on KKTV's Moms Everyday on the topics of eating disorders in adolescents and postpartum depression in fathers. I have presented state-wide and nationally at conferences on trauma and disordered eating.

Therapy Modalities:
I use Eye Movement & Desensitization (EMDR) with a large percentage of my clientele, the majority of whom are dealing with unresolved trauma and how it impacts relationships and daily lives. When using EMDR, I often incorporate other therapy modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), experiential therapy, Internal Family Systems, or Ego State Therapy to assist with stabilization before EMDR can progress.

In couples therapy, I frequently use Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), which focuses on recognizing the couple's unmet attachment needs in order to heal the relationship. This modality assists in focusing on underlying wounds, voids, and needs rather than focusing on each others' problematic behaviors, which in turn fosters healthier communication and intimacy. I often combine the EFCT method with the Gottman method, which assists clients in learning tools and skills to communicate effectively. In almost all couples therapy intakes, I assess attachment styles (secure, avoidant, anxious, etc) and past attachment wounds.

Other therapy modalities I am trained in and utilize include Heartmath (biofeedback), sandtray therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I take a holistic, non-pharmaceutical approach to treating emotional and mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and ADHD. When appropriate (such as symptoms not abating after several sessions or having been severe/chronic for an extended period of time), I do refer to psychiatric providers in the area with the client's permission.

Areas of study/expertise: My passion lies in working with individuals who have experienced childhood, developmental, or attachment traumas; those who struggle with disordered eating, binge eating, or emotional eating; those who struggle with dissociation; and those who wish to utilize a holistic approach to wellness.
I appreciate opportunities to learn more through research, and I am currently interested in studying effective modalities used to heal Binge-eating Disorder, as well as the use of EMDR in couples work, and the use of EMDR in disordered eating/Binge-eating Disorder.
